I suggest eating 5 times throughout the day to keep your metabolism up - 3 meals and 2 snacks. Drink at least 64oz of water a day and try to eat as fresh as possible and not have processed food or meals. If you can prepare meals yourself that is much better.
Here is an example:
Brekkie - egg whites and toast with butter, glass of OJ and tea
Snack - almonds
Lunch - salad with fresh veggies and tofu/chicken and a light dressing (make it yourself!)
Snack - apples and peanut butter
Dinner - Salad or steamed veggies with salmon
Make sure you always have good snacks - boiled eggs (protein), almonds, apples with peanut butter - so you don't eat bad things when you are hungry. Keep drinking water.
Most importantly: NO ALCOHOL OR CANDY/SUGAR SNACKS!! If you are keeping away from processed food this shouldn't be a problem.

Just eat smaller portion (e.g. eat less) and exercise more (find something which you find pleasant: walking, cycling, swimming, whatever, do it on a regular basis -30 minutes a day is good) and you'll be fine.
