No, I would rather return it. How about if the person that gave it to you found out that you gave it to someone else and there feelings got hurt. It will also be bad if the person you gave it to found out then you will look to cheap and it would be like you are telling them they are not good enough for you to spend your money on them

Giving away a gift that you received used to be completely unacceptable. But this is one of those things that has evolved into being acceptable.
Regifting is fine now a days, but you still don't want to let the person who gave you the gift originally see that you are giving it away. If you are giving it away in a different circle of friends or coworkers, that's just fine. White elephant parties and secret santa situations are the perfect chance for people to regift the things they've received and know they will never use.

I must be very lucky, for I can't really recall any gift I didn't like. I only have very few friends & family that I exchange gifts with, but within that small circle obviously they know me well enough to know what I like!
I don't have any moral problems with re-gifting however. Well, not when someone would give something away because they really don't have much use for it and genuinely think the next person will enjoy it much more. That is considerate & environmentally sound! Just like I don't think getting a gift that's in good shape from a second-hand store, if it's just the right thing for the person you're giving it to.
Only if someone is just trying to get rid of an ugly gift, or buying second-hand only because they're cheap while they don't give a .... for the environment and never recycle anything in their lives, then it is tacky.

Yes. I've done that with a horribly tacky old dish I got for Christmas once that was obviously an emergency present. I regifted it to a friend of my family who did not know the original owners of it. Just make sure they don't have any connection and put 2 and 2 together!

Got it in one. If I cannot use it or like it and cannot take it back. I will give it to someone that can appreciate it. But, having said that I just received a gold plated watch from the Grandparent in laws that I kept and wore while I was down there. If all the packaging had been there I would have taken it back after I left and if questioned say there was a problem and I exchanged it. I do not have to tell them the problem was their taste. As I did appreciate the thought versus the gift itself.
Now Children's gifts are another topic and I would wear anything they gave me and use what ever till my skin turned green and I developed a rash.

Sure! We are encouraged to...it is the newest trend! Reuse, reduce and recycle!
Of course, you can't do it most of the time because there are rules. The rules go like this:
If it is used but in good shape and you know someone else would like it - you can give it to someone, but you have to tell them that you had it and thought they could use it and you give it to them 'just because'.
If it is brand-spanking new you regift and keep your mouth shut.
I won't regift something that someone else won't appreciate.

Yes usually friends have gifts they don't want either so we swop, as long as the giver of the gifts doesn't know, we wouldn't like to offend anyone. Last Christmas I passed on a unwanted foot massage and I took a bath set just what I wanted, it works quite well, if there are still unwanted gifts we take them to a charity shop.

sure and that i have, there is not something incorrect with it. truly if it truly is a present that you do not recognize what keep it got here from and ought to't go back it then. I truly provide it to someone who receives some use out of it then enable it sit down round to be ultimately thrown out.

No there's no re-gifting allowed it's disrespectful to the person your re-gifting; instead try selling it to a pawn shop I'm sure they'll be happy to buy it from you. Or you could donate the item to the good will there's always someone who will appreciate it more than we think, remember it's the thought that counts.
