1. Saudi Arabia and Syria will back the Sunni's
2 Iran will and has been supporting the Shiites
3. More Muslim countries will be drawn into the fight.
4. Oil fields will be won by the Iranians and they will have a strangle hold on 1/2 of the worlds oil supply.
5. It gives the insurgent terrorists a victory
6. We would have to bring all our troops to the US. NO presence in the world where they would not be attacked. America has no resolve what-so-ever to win.
7. The global economy would suffer.
8. In the end we will have to return to the skirmish. We will put more men and women in harms way, in a far more precarious position.

The most likely scenario for an immediate full withdrawal by the US would be civil war. The civil war would not be your average civil war though. There are numerous factions inside Iraq that are there for the sole purpose of fighting the Americans. If the Americans were to leave abruptly, I believe these factions would turn on each other and also on the various Iraqi groups. There would be a prolonged struggle.
This could be a good thing from some perspectives. The fighting in Iraq would likely draw in most of the more violent factions of Islam and they would do to eacj other what the US has been unable to do - stop the war on terror. The extremists would be so busy fighting amongst themselves, we'd have relative peace and quiet in the west.
I also think it would highly unlikely that any Middle Eastern power like Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, etc. would intevene in Iraq, simply because it would be a quagmire for them just like it has been for the US. An immediate withdrawal by US forces is probably the best course of action for the American people. However, it was ruled out by the executive because there was no gain in it for them.

Well the iranians have made concerns that we pull out , but not to soon , why ? Because a swift withdrawl would most likely result in a full out civil war in IRAQ and in sheer numbers the Shunni who are a minority would most likey be whipped out . Then the Iranian have been sending their secret police over the border with arms for the insurrgents . Now the Iraqee people who have no love for the Iranians would probally take the fight back to the Irainians for their escalation of the violence against the civilian population of Iraq . The U.N. would want to send in peace keeping forces to stop any conflict between Iraq civillians carrying out acts of war against Iran . Guess who would be the major sender of troops in the U.N. peace keeping force , us of course , back to square one . So why pull out before were done, by the way , I thuink we need another 600,000 troops do do the job right and when the powers that be figure this out, look out draft .

Iraq doesn't have the capability to attack a hornets nest let alone the US. If we were to suddenly pull out the Iraqs that want us to stay there will feel betrayed. And they will continue killing each other and hating americans. D*mned if you do d*mned if you don't. I don't care what anyone says pulling out isn't going to bring stability to the region but I have my doubts that stay will either.

they would implode!!! their government isn't stable enough right now to where they could thrive efficiently. they also aren't military wise able to defend themselves. It wouldn't be pretty and no i dint think that they would attack us, maybe the terrorist groups who see pulling out as a weakness, they would definitely attack us.

I'm not quite sure, but I have a feeling we may never find out. Atleast not until Bush's term ends.

We would have every nation mad at us for going into a country and tearing them all to pieces and then backing out of it. They would have a legitimate reason to be mad at us then.
