when i am not using my pc i leave it on charge then when i do use it i am only on it for a short while the light will come on red saying i need to charge it then it will go off i did have it looked at 8mnts ago and it cost they reckoned they put a new circuit board it ,it is 4years old will some1 help me i have a son with autism who uses it a lot i am no good with computers and dont understand anything about them could you help me ither diagnose the prob or do i need to get a new one or is there any1 in the birmingham area who will look at it for me at a very very very low cost thanks if you reply please put it in so simple terms not computer googledegok thanks

It sounds like the battery is shot. Many batteries do better if they're not kept on charge all the time.

Unfortunately, the only solutions are to 1) only use it while plugged in or 2) get a new battery.

Unfortunately, batteries aren't cheap. You can get an estimate by checking the web site of the manufacturer of the laptop.

It sounds like your older notebook computer has a dying or dead battery. Search eBay for an inexpensive replacement battery for your specific machine.
But, first ask someone you trust and who is knowledgeable look at it for you. Sorry, I don't live in the Birmingham area. Hope this helps.

Is it a laptop? If so then your adapter cord may be bad and you may have to get a new one.
