I know that television sets are on sale just about everywhere because of the superbowl. At least thats one of the reasons at the moment. But does anyone know if sales are even better after the event is over. I am looking to buy a 42" plasma flat screen for the living room and want to research before I jump in, but don't want to miss the good sales.

Thanks.

Prices are continuing to decrease due to the competitive nature of the home theater industry. Before or after the Super Bowl is quite irrelevant. It's really an issue of time. The longer you wait, the cheaper the TV's will be. In reality, there is no good time to buy than the time you need and can afford a TV.

More TV's tend to be on sale though during special sporting events like Super Bowl, NBA Finals, March Madness, World Cup, Olympics. If you are planning on doing a financing plan, the best financing plans tend to be during sporting events. Right now, you got interest free until Jan 2009.

The sales are just about the same before and after from what I have seen. I am also in the market for a big screen but I am looking for a DLP. If you are interested in plasma's I did see that Best Buy has a 50 inch Hewlett Packard HD plasma on sale for $1699, which is roughly $700 off. They make nice TV's and you'd be paying the price of a 42 inch EDTV but getting way more for your money.

the sales will be better after the superbowl. they know that everyone wants a big screen TV to watch the game, so they will pay anything. after the game, there will be huge sales.
