1 or 2 months ago I weighed 139 pounds. Now, I weigh 142 pounds, but I have been working out. Is this muscle gain? I don't really notice a great difference in my arm muscle, or anything else, but I have been eating healthy. Or, is this just normal weight gain for that amount of time?

13yr male 5'7-5'8 if it helps.

If you are just starting to exercise, then you can gain weight at first because muscle holds more water and weighs more than fat, so if you replace an equal amount of fat with muscle you will weigh more. Eventually even if you weigh more, you shouldl be able to see a difference in the way your clothes fit , or your waist is smaller, etc.

You should always weight yourself at the same time everyday, preferably in the morning after you have used the bathroom and without any clothes on.
It could be muscle mass causing the weight gain or it also could be that you are at an age where you are growing. Keep up the good work with your healthy diet and working out. It will pay off!

Good job. Your the same age as our son. He's a tall kid and works out.. Not too heavy yet.. Eats very well. .In your case.. it's a combination of muscle and possibly a little bit of body fat.. At your age though, It's probably more muscle.. Teens usually burn calories due to their activities.. ie.. sports, p.e. etc..Keep it up. Just don't get involved in any growth enhancement supplements, especially anything illegal Eat right, get proper rest and don't over do it in the beginning..

muscle weighs more than fat, so don't look at your weight, you need to get someone at the gym to measure your fat to muscle ratio. They can do a pinch test to see how much of you is fat.

you are probably more muscular but weigh more than before

It's probably muscle. Are you doing a total body work-out with weights? Have you noticed your pants fitting more loosely?

If u maintain an account of ur measurements, it will be clear that u have lost inches indicating loss of fat and build up of muscles.

it could be a number of different things. if you havent checked your weight sence then. you could have different clothes on. you could have alot of excess water weight, you could also have not taken a dump yet and that could be weighing ya down. it might be muscle but that kind of depends on how much you have been working out and how much strength training you have done.
