My husband is gone on his 2nd deployment I just can't get motivated to do anything. I work 5 to 6 days a week so my day off is the only time I have to clean or do anything else. anyone have any suggestions! Thanks

When my husband deploys I usually sit around and cry the first two days then get back to life. I'm a nursing student and I work part time so there is always something for me to do to keep my mind off of it. Honestly, housework is the least of my worries. If I just clean up after myself a mess does not accumulate. I don't cook for myself. I just dont see the point in making an awesome meal with nobody to share it with. Usually a week or so before homecoming I'm in a race to get the house looking immaculate. Just relax.. go for a jog or something. Exercising always gets me motivated to accomplish things. It also makes me feel so much better about myself. :) Take Care!

ALL Units that are deployed ... ususally the Senior Officer's Spouse (and the other staff spouses) have not just the ability to meet with and help the other spouses in the unit deal with the emotional issues of deployment, but also ties to support groups on post that you can definitely use as well as participate in.
YOU do NOT have to feel isolated, down or depressed. Get active in the Unit's Family Mission -- and you can do this even if you work full time during the week (after all, most of the other spouses of the unit also work full time, so any activity they have or references to support services takes that full time employment of the spouse of the servicemember to mind).
Do you know any of the other spouses in the unit? Have you visited or called your local Family Support Unit? Do you read the local post paper (It is available weekly at the Commissary/Exchange store entrances -- and has listing of all available services/recreational opportunities and events on the post as well as current news).

SGLMOM has a great point and she is very correct. There is always a group for spouses that usually get together and go and do something like go to a cafe and chit chat. You would be surprised how many nice people you would meet and how many friends you would make and having someone to talk to that knows what you are going through is a great motivation to keep you going in the future. I hope everything gets better for you and I hope your hubby comes home safe.

Do you have kids? If not, why bother? Be lax if it isn't hurting anyone. Or if that makes you feel bad, keep inviting people over to your house so you'll have to keep cleaning it. If you own your own home, pretend he's looking at high-tech, up to date aerial views of it so you will stay motivated to keep the outside nice.

Take it easy on yourself. Let it go some. It'll be ok!
When hubby deployed, I couldn't get motivated to clean for a week...

This could be clinical depression. Here's a link to a self-screening that you can do by yourself. You can follow up with your doctor, who can prescribe medication or refer you to a specialist or a counselor.
good luck!

you know, sometimes it helps to talk to someone in a similar situation... and sometimes.. it's ok to slack off! you need to take some time for yourself, even if its only a few hours :)
