Thinking about sin is never a sin in itself. Performing the act is sinful and that sin worthy of eternal punishment. In the case of suicide, what awaits the person who performs suicide in the afterlife is far, far greater than any life they thought they were escaping from. Being patient with God and seeking guidance in this life, living a natural life and dying in a natural fashion will, God-willing, be rewarded with paradise. Life and the after-life are very real and one affects the outcome of the other.

The sin is that there is now a lack of faith and trust in the Lord. We are commanded to TRUST THE LORD, when we are contemplating suicide we have lost that faith and trust. THAT IS THE SIN. Proverbs 3:5 trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

no, thinking about suicide is not a sin. and to avoid suicide it is absolute important to allow yourself to think about it. repressed thoughts only lead to more depression and will not solve any of the problems one might have. if someone has repeated thoughts about suicide it is important to ask friends and professionals for help.

If someone is thinking suicidal thoughts...get them medical help immediately. It is a symptom of depression and that is real.

According to the Catholic Faith, if you think about committing a sin, you have.

Although there is no specific prohibition against it, it is kind of covered under the "Thou shalt not kill/murder" commandment, as you have killed/murdered yourself.

But a lot depends on what your particular faith says

People who experience pain in their lives inevitably think about it-it should never be an option though.
