she is very swollen by her tummy, and is much more loving, and always wants to be with me now. I have heard that some puppies can die if they have puppies. but another of my ?s is that how can you tell if she is pregnant?

Take her to the vet if her tummy is swollen. If your beagle is pregnant by a lab, your vet needs to be involved NOW because there may be complications carrying such large pups and she may need an emergency cesarian section to deliver (boy I hope you have some money saved up $$$$$$$$$$).
Go see a vet to be sure. Also, because your beagle is so young, she may not know how to care for her pups when they're born, so you'll need to ask the vet about everything you'll need to do to keep the pups alive should the mother abandon them/attempt to kill them.
Once she's weined her pups, make sure to have her fixed. The world doesn't need more unwanted puppies.

How can she be pregnant for 4 years if she's only 10 months old? It's impossible. Nothing is pregnant for 4 years anyway. Not even elephants. What will happen is she'll have a litter of Beagadors or Labreagles.
10 months old is much to young for any dog to get pregnant. It isn't good for them and could harm them. Are her teats swelling? That's one indication of pregnancy. Take her to the vet and see what he says. It could be she has a tumor. If she is pregnant there could be complications because she is so young. The vet can help with those too.

You need a vet to tell you if she's pregnant or not.
If so, he will advise you of what problems may arise from this breeding to a much larger dog.
Please have her spayed before this happens again.

Take her to the vet! They can check if she is pregnant, or just plain ill! If she is pregnant, they will walk you through what you need to do for the whelping and subsequent spaying of the dog.

take her to the vet and get her checked out they will be able to tell you if she is for sure or not and they will also be able to tell you if you need to worry about anything IF she is pregnant.

was she in heat??
You can go to the vet and have them do an ultrasound to see if she is pregnant, but I think they have to be so far to be able to see the pups.
