NOOOOO!!!! eating less than 1200calories (for females, 1800 for males) a day will ruin your metabolism! It will slow down (the opposite of what you want it to do) and go into starvation mode if you eat less than 1200. What i would reccommend is eating a small meal every 2-3 hours...something 200 cal or less and maybe a lot a bit more for dinner so you don't get hungry and snack before you go to bed. eating every 2-3 hours this will keep food energy constantly available in your system so nothing gets stored as fat. remember to keep it healthy with whole grains, fruits, veggies, lean proteins and healthy fats. you should also do cardio 3 times a week for at least 30 min as well as begin weight training (pick up an issue of Shape magazine or Fitness magazine for a good weight training routine). weight training will help build lean muscle mass which consumes calories even when you are at rest (i.e watching tv, sleeping...ect)

Depending on your body weight. . . .you should try and eat a certain amount of calories a day. 2000 calories are about what you should be eating a day if you're a healthy fit person. I've been trying to keep it around 1800 calories a day to try and drop a few pounds.

It's really interesting how many calories something you enjoy has. . .like salad dressings are absolutely insane!

I try to eat 3 small balanced meals a day and two snacks. . .I try to keep my snacks around 100 to 180 calories.

See. . .the more calories you eat the more active you need to be to burn or use those calories up. If you don't use all the calories up then they will be stored in the body as fat. . . .so. . .excersice is very very important when trying to lose weight. . . .now if I can only get myself off this computer and burn some calories. . I'd be great. . .LOL
Good luck!

You body has certain energy needs that are met through food. Eat an amount of food that does not meet these needs and your body will use stored energy, fat, to overcome the deficet. A good rule of thumb for your calorie needs, if you are sedentary, is to multiply your weight (in lbs) by 13 (15 and 17 for moderately active and very active, respectively). If you ensure you consume at least 500 fewer calories than this amount, per day, you will lose around a pound a week. That should be healthy and sustainable for you.

Feed the fire! The reality is that you could eat a ton of food in a day if it is the right kind. In the morning have a smoothie made from your favorite fruit. It is so gone before you know it. Follow it up with some oatmeal and your day is now smokin! Eat more fruit and veg throughout the day with a pint of water before each meal. The reality is that you will lose some weight with restricted caloric intake, but it will be quicker if you eat more quality food instead. By cheating your body of food, your body tells you to go screw yourself and prohibits the burning of fat and carbohydrates. Some studies say you should eat within 30 minutes of waking up to tell your body that your not going to screw it over again. Try this once, eat all vegetables and fruits for 12 days, maybe some chicken breast for dinner and some beans in between. Your weight will drop off like no ones business. Plus it is healthy as heck. No butter, limited good quality oils i.e. olive, and lots of H2O. Good luck!

It's all in the math! So here's the formula- by adding a zero to your weight will tell you how many calories needed per day to maintain your weight, though this depends on your activity level. Of course going over is a guaranteed recipe to gain weight, unless your exercising. Though as general guide, to loose 1 pound per week, you need to eliminate 500 calories per day. And to loose 2 pounds per week, you need to eliminated 1000 calories per day, and so on. Examples-- if you weigh 130 pounds, to prevent any weight gain you need to maintain ( not exceed ) 1300 calories per day. To loose 1 pound per week , you can not exceed 800 calories a day, which is very unreasonable. If this were the case I'd only recommend loosing much slower, such as a half pound per week thereby eliminating only no more than 200-250 calories per day, which if you just did moderate exercise without eliminating any calories you would loose same, because exercise will usually burn 200 to 250 per 45 minutes to an hour. Other factors are your age, the younger you are the faster your motabolism works. However this is a life-long battle, so conquer it now by eating healthy with exercise four times a week, and try to stay at 1400-1500 calories per day. If you are already active you may need to increase your caloric intake. P.S. OPRAH is having a diet show on tomorrow 01/15/07. And remember starving yourself with too few calories will make you fat!

good you want a specific quantity of energy according to day to your frame to only do its natural capabilities, like respiring. So i woudlnt advocate consuming simply a thousand thats very low. Try to get a bit of activity in daily, or three instances every week on the fitness center or anything, you can shed extra pounds so much quicker via consuming more healthy and figuring out a bit of, then simply reducing energy. Also in the event you devour too little, your frame will move into hunger mode and you're going to honestly begin turning the whole lot your consuming immediately into fats due to the fact your frame is storing any meals for later rationale its no longer certain whilst you're going to devour once more. So, consuming that little can placed you in hunger mode so that it will honestly do the reverse of what you wish. Exercise additionally releases endorphins which make you joyful, and who doesnt wanna be joyful!?

Calories is just energy, if you put away the energy then you'll store it as fat, but that's mostly what carbohydrates do. You need calories, if you go under a 2000 calorie diet then you'll be malnourished.

NOOOO. If you go too low your matobolism will shut down and you will actually gain weight. You need to be eating around 1500-1800 calories and doing some sort of excercise. There were studies done of people who excercised and didn't eat enough calories, they had lower matabolisms than those who ate enough and didn't excercise. So please eat enough.
