someone cut and pasted :Ex 33:20-23
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

my question is: where did the people who writes this stuff get there information from? hasnt it ever made you wonder how someone can write this and claim GOD said this? when they write at the top here And he said,: Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. this is wired. your comments will be interesting.

The whole thing is pretty silly, isn't it?

From this, god is saying he has a face, hands, anb back parts. So, supposedly since we were made in his "image", he looks like us.

So, he can create an entire universe, with billions of stars and planets, create the laws of physics, create gravity, create molecules and atoms and viruses and every single living creature on the earth, but for some reason can't show us his face. Not even a picture or a bad sketch. Even though he looks like us.

How anyone can believe this is beyond me.

And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

- A full discovery of the glory of God would quite overpower the faculties of any mortal man.

21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

- In that he was to be sheltered from the dazzling light, and devouring fire of God's glory. This was the rock in Horeb, out of which water was brought, of which it is said, That rock was Christ, (1 Corinthians 10:4.) "... and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ."
'Tis in the clefts of this rock that we are secured from the wrath of God, which otherwise would consume us: God himself will protect those that are thus hid: and it is only through Christ that we have the knowledge of the glory of God. None can see that to their comfort, but those that stand upon this rock, and take shelter in it.

23 And I will take away mine hand,

- Speaking after the manner of men.

and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

- The face in man is the seat of majesty, and men are known by their faces, in them we take a full view of men; that sight of God Moses might not have, but such a sight as we have of a man who is gone past us, so that we only see his back. Now Moses was allowed to see this only, but when he was a witness to Christ's transfiguration, he saw his face shine as the sun.

(The scriptural commentary is from John Wesley, 1703-1791.)

my question is: where did the people who writes this stuff get there information from?

- Divine inspiration, oral traditions, contemporary Jewish schools of thought of the day, and experience.

hasnt it ever made you wonder how someone can write this and claim GOD said this?

- Absolutely. I wouldn't be human otherwise. Isn't it great that we have this freedom to question!

when they write at the top here And he said,: Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. this is wired.

- Yes, it would be a very high voltage experience.

your comments will be interesting.

- Hope another viewpoint helps. Thx for the question.

Before the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947, the oldest known existing manuscript of the O.T. was the Massoretic Text, dated about 900 A.D. With the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, fragments of almost every book in the O.T. were found, including two complete copies of the book of Isaiah. These were dated appoximately 150 B.C., over 1000 years earlier! When the two texts were compared to each other, the texts dated 150 B.C. proved to be virtually identical to today's standard Hebrew Bible (which is what our Old Testament comes from) in 95% of the text. The 5% variation between the two can be easily explained by obvious slips of the pen and variations in spelling. From discoveries such as these, Christians today have undeniable evidence that the Old Testament they read is the same one that was written millenia ago

ok
the bible was written by men inspired by the creator, god all mighty.
even in the new testament, jesus said to his discip[les you will not remember these thing now but the holy spirirt will come upon you.
it is just like the jesus went to the garden tp pray and the disciples fell a sleep.
as he promised, the knew what transpired only because they were filled with the holy spirit

let's have faith in the word of god that is is true
may god bless you

Well, God could have spoken to Moses without Moses seeing His face. Or He could have been in front of Moses, but His face was not seen, because God is a spirit and that was before Jesus. Moses might have just seen a light and heard a voice. But that's just my opinion.

It is quite an interesting point.

I am sorry Your IDEAS of God are Not HIS!

Your ANSWER is here in the Scriptures!

(2Timothy 3:12-to-17) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

(2Ti 3:13) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

(2Ti 3:14) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

(2Ti 3:15) And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

(2Ti 3:16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

(2Ti 3:17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Thanks, RR

Doesn't make much sense does it?

It reminds me of that part on POTC when Jack is in the jail and the guy tells him that "In all the stories, they say no can come across the Black Pearl and live to tell the tale" or something like that.....
