If your headache is caused because you are dehydrated. Thus rehydration could alleviate your headache
Steam from hot tea can help clear your sinus tubes which can also be the cause of a headache.
Psychologically tea could be helpful too, to comfort you in times of stress.
Difference teas are medicinal and aid specific problems.
I'm sure there are a lot more other examples here I name but a few.

I do not know of a specific type of tea used to soothe a headache. However, if I had to guess, I would say decaffeinated tea is probably better. I would think caffeine can make a headache worse.

Well warm tea helps warm up the body. Some headaches are caused by constricting of vessles of blood and tea warms them up opens them and then no more headache. If it is a caffeen headache then it is the caffeen in the tea that helps

Tea doesn't get rid of headaches (unless there is something added to it lol). It may be that tea helps to clear headaches associated with not drinking enough fluids during the day.

It depends on what kind of tea it is. But generally speaking the caffiene contained in tea will sometimes relieve a headache. If you notice, many headache pain relievers have caffiene. It has to do with shrinking the blood vessels.
