I don't know what specific bone your talking about. If it's near your chest, it might be from yourskin stretching because of puberty, you're at the age where aches and that stuff happens cause your growing. If it doesn't stop soon, go see a doctor. Did you bump into anything earlier?

Believe it or not you are experiencing "growing pains!" At twelve your bones are still growing. Puberty is coming or has just arrived. If you have not injured your sternum, that bone in your chest, then that is what it is, sweetie. If you are a girl drink lots of milk and eat lots of dairy products. Your bones absorb calcium most efficiently before your twenties and you need it for a lifetime!

go to the doctor , even if your just 12 you might have somthing serious going on,do you smoke? how long hs it been hurting? these questions may help you , dont chance anything ,go get checked out,dont rely on our diagnosis ,or any answer on the net .i do know this your chest bone should not be hurting, hope you see a doctor,good luck to you!

Then sternum or the Ribs? You may have slept worng and bruised it or fratcured it. If it lasts more than two days go to a Doctor.

At 12, I think they're called growing pains. Ask your parents to ask your doctor if it's really bothering you that much.

There could be several reasons. Some no big deal...some a big deal...You need to see a doctor to be diagnosed properly.
