Ask any Jewish person who had their families and friends wiped out in consent ration camps. Remember Pearl Harbor? Go to the history books and check out what pre-war Japan and Germany and all the other countries involved were like then check out how they are today. How about the quality of life in South Korea vs. the lack of quality of life in North Korea today? Do you think Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein and the rest of those "good 'ole' boys" are really missed by the people who had to live under them? I'll bet not. No war is "good" but sometimes necessary.

There are no good wars. People die in all wars. Horrible things are done--by both sides. World War 2 wasn't a 'good' war, it was an accepted war. Everyone saw it as necessary and therefore accepted it. The same happened here right after 9/11. When we didn't achieve a quick "microwave" solution, people started questioning whether or not we were winning.
Good versus evil is relative.
side note to cookie monster: go research the Rape of Nanking and then tell me Japan wasn't evil.

Good is always in the eyes of the beholder and the victor. I am sure that there are those in Japan that feel that the use of atomic weapons on civilian targets was evil. From an American perspective it was the last time that we had an enemy that was cut and dry. So on that note it was a good war due to a concrete enemy and objective. Our recent wars have had enemies that are nebulous at best and objectives that are cloudy. The current war we are in has an objective that is about as solid as jello.

There's no such thing as a good war. Nowadays we look at WW2 through a veil of nostalgia, but for the people who fought in it, it was just as much of a hell as any war. That being said, I think the Axis was worth fighting.

All war is a necessary EVIL. Most Europeans were fighting against the "Godless Nazi's" and thus would consider it a "good" war.
