That would constitute interstate transportation of an illegal drug.

The Supreme Court has ruled that Federal laws trump State laws on the use of marijuana essentially voiding the medical use laws. The Feds are not in the habit of tracking down small quantity users as that's a state or local law enforcement responsibility. Therefore medical users are relatively safe as long as they are not producing or distributing MJ.

However, the Federal government does regulate interstate commerce (as explicitly stated in The Constitution) so any interstate transportation is a Federal crime and will be prosecuted if the user is caught. The chances of getting caught going to or from Hawaii increase dramatically as opposed to the continental states since the Federal government is responsible for inspection of passengers & cargo on aircraft and ships, the only way into or out of Hawaii.

First of all, Medical Cannabis is a load of crap. Secondly, you will not be allowed to travel into a State that does not recognize Cannabis as a medical treatment. On the bright side though, they tell me than Hawaian jails are very nice so feel free to try and get it in....

No. The Supreme Court ruled that marijuana is illegal under federal law and that legalization of medical cannabis under state law did not supercede the federal criminalization.

In fact, you can still be subject to arrest, indictment and conviction of possession of a controlled substance even if you don't leave the state.
