Never encourage biting or grabbing, as it can become a problem when older. If he nipps or grabs you, squeel loudly and say NO in a stern, firm and deep voice. A high pitched voice denotes excitement to dogs. The lower tones denote displeasure. Puppies squeel when their mother's nipp them to keep them in place or when they do wrong. A squeel means it hurts and so doing that to a puppy also tells him he has hurt you. Never hit, as that makes him afraid of you. It's up to you to teach him correct behaviour.
You could also try growling without the noise, as in grimmacing, showing your teeth. This denotes extreme displeasure in a dog. Do it briefly, just to show you mean business and back off.
Pups do chew it is true. Destroying things can be a sign of bordom or anxiety. So make sure you play with the pup, stimulate him and take him out. They like time with their owner.
Hope it helps. I am availible for advice if you want to know more.

Reason-he is doing this is because he was taken away from his mother to early. its best to wait at least 9 weeks before you take it away from the mother even though some people say 6. the mom would have taught it not to bite or nip in, but since the mom is not here you need to imitate what the mom would probably do in this situation.

Training-whenever he bites you pick him up by the scruff on his neck(just a few inches in the air) and move him about a foot away from you. yell "NO" or "ouch" in a deep commanding voice as soon as he does it. then put a chew toy in his mouth. don't worry about being too stern he knows you love him and he wont hold a grudge. and if he starts chewing on the chew toy tell him good boy and praise him. you can also try gripping his mouth and keeping it closed for 2 seconds. you always have to remember to yell NO otherwise he wont get the point.

Toys-try giving him a Dingo Bone. dogs absolutely go crazy for them. Try to freeze a wet towel and then give it to him frozen. hell love the bumpy texture to get ready for his new teeth.

good luck!!!hope these work!!!

BTW some people may say that he is just teething. This is true but if you don't make him know that you aren't one of his chew toys now he will never get the message and it will become a habit to him to bite you.

Puppies cut teeth just like human babies, and then they fall out and are replaced with adult teeth. So they chew, and chew, and chew some more. And sometimes it is so cute that people encourage it without realizing they are creating a biting monster. Buy lots of rubbery, soft chewtoys for the puppy. Even Dentabones or rawhide leather or pig ears will help. Just be patient and try to correct the problem before it becomes worse. Sadly, they don't stop wanting to chew and bite everything until well after they are a year old...good luck!!

First off, make sure he has plenty of chew toys to choose from. Soft ones, hard ones, nylabones, rope bones, plush toys.

Sit with your dog. When he does it, say in a sharp quick tone NO BITE and ball your hands up into fists. Put them in the dog's face. Think still blockade, do not punch him out (playfully or otherwise). Most dogs, especially little ones, don't find fists nearly as inviting to bite as fingers.

After telling him NO BITE, quickly reach for a nearby toy and give it to him. Again, put it in his face - but in a non threatening manner. Coo and talk about how good the toy is when you do it. Wiggle it invitingly. Chances are he'll go for it. If he does, praise him profusely.

If he bites other parts of your body, same tactic. NO BITE, immediately give him something else to chew on, praise when he does it. If it is within reach, you can put your fists over the area while reprimanding him.

Another tactic is spraying the bitter-apple stuff on you. This will only work in conjunction with the no bite\toy thing- if you only spray, he may just get used to the taste or find parts of you that aren't sprayed!

I've managed to train my Pap from a chronic nipper and heel biter to one who only gently nips in play wrestling- and even then, only when I allow it. NO BITE and he will stop.

I have a min pin too. Aren't they the cutest things? Ours loves to bite and when he was a puppy, we kept chew toys on hand when we played. He'd start to bite and he'd get the chew toy. He is 1 year old now and doesn't actually bite, but is very mouthy still. He will hold our hand in his mouth, the little freak. We love ours so much!! Enjoy

Make sure he knows that those toys he has are for him to chew on. He is just a young puppy so he is proably teething. Another thing you could do to make sure that he knows the chew toys are his is to play with him with the toys. I hope I hellped!

At 8 weeks old, he is just playing. Give him time to grow up and discourage the biting as he grows.

He is a puppy, that's what puppies do. Anytime he bites, hold his mouth closed, they really don't like that, and play with him a lot!
