Proactive does work, make sure you moisturize with a good sunscreen product. Also talk to your doctor about tretinoin (Retin-A) It will dry out your skin at first, but if your acne is serious this is the only way it is going to be resolved, trust me on this, I have tried EVERYTHING out there. If you stick with it for about 12-18 weeks your skin will be better than it has ever been before.
If you are a woman, your acne may be hormonal. Go to your doctor and ask him to test your androgen levels. If this is the problem he will prescribe you diannette/diane35 or yasmin, which will control the effects of the androgens. This really works, I have been taking Diane35 for close to 2 years now and the difference is amazing.

You might want to try a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil for normal to oily skin or Purpose. Those are what dermatologists recommend.
They're the only two that I can use and I'm almost 30!
I use Cetaphil face wash and Purpose with spf lotion regularly. I use Neutrogena On the Spot acne treatment to treat zits that pop up.
Once a week, I exfoliate with St. Ive's Apricot scrub.
You have to find a regimen that doesn't irritate your skin but works to keep your acne under control.
If nothing over the counter works, go see a dermatologist.

I use oil of olay! its the only thing i found that ever worked but geez its expensive. The price us women pay to be beautiful just doesnt make sense sometimes. If i had to pick between por-active and neutrogena id choose pro active. It works you just have to use it steadily. You cant miss days and things like that.

I would use neutrogena because it has saclycic acid because benzoyl proxide in proactiv can irritate your skin and cause more breakouts. This women who was a dermotogist came to my school and told me that and if you don't believe me believe her. And benzoyl justs stops the current problems but S.A and stop from furthur breakouts and stop current problems

I think you should stick with proactiv. Its really good and I use it too. It really stopped my acne since it's so strong. to keep your face moisturized you need to buy a separate moisturizer for your face. I use dove facial lotion to stop my face from drying out.
