My beardie was brought into a house that had an adult cat. The two of them played together constantly. You have to keep in mind that bearded collie puppies are VERY high energy puppies and if your cat is definitely not dog friendly, you'll need to keep them separated until they get used to each other. Make sure the cat always has an escape because the last thing you want is for a puppy to get clawed in the eye by the cat. Most any dog can get used to a cat - you have to know how to train them.

You should have a feeding schedule. You should usually feed her 1/4 cup of food 3-4 time a day. Usually for puppies they can just be played with for exercise. A walk may be to much. What you should do as when its a little puppy you should work on getting it used to the leash. As it gets older that's when you should walk your dog once a day and if you can twice. You should also have a bathroom schedule. You should take it out 1-2 hours when its a puppy and when your not home put it in a small enclosed room with peepee pads and its water and food. A puppy can hold its bladder for as many hours as it is months old. So if its a month old then 1 hour, 2 months 2 hours, 3 months 3 hours and so on and so on. The weight of the breed you are looking for will be 25-30 lbs.

Any dog and cat can become used to each other. It's just a matter of introducing them in a way that's supervised (just in case anything happens.) The puppy is probably going to take to it better than the cat because its young and doesn't really have much experience with any other animals. I would focus your attention on helping the cat become comfortable with the puppy instead. Maybe try keeping them in the same room for a couple minutes every day (supervised) but its going to take time. They may never become cuddley with each other but eventually they will work out some sort of order between themselves.

I am a firm believer in the fact that any dog that is raised from puppy-hood to adult with cats will be able to live peacefully with them. I have two German Short Haired Pointers (hunting dogs) and two cats. I have raised the dogs since they were pups with the cats, and although their instincts do kick in sometimes (they want to sniff them like crazy) they won't harm them. Just like training your puppy to go potty outside, and to sit, obeying the "no kitty" rule is something you will have to train them to do. I haven't had any problems, and we are all currently living in harmony! Good luck!

It depends if your cat likes dogs. I have a collie/German Shepard and he is a bit bouncy. You should watch the behaver of both animals.
