Most guys love cook-outs. Get a group together (6 to 12), and have a cookout (burgers, hotdogs, chips and dip, different sodas), some good music, dancing (if you have a pool or hot tub, include that). Begin about an hour before dark, and have lighting you can dim after dark if you like (also, if you have a small place where you can build a fire, that is always - people just seem to love sitting around a fire!). If the weather becomes a problem, have some movies for inside (you can always do the food inside). I have given many, many surprise parties as described above -- the expensive is small and the fun is great! Use disposable plates, spoons, and cups -- there is little clean-up and everyone has a good time! (and if you want to make the party more fun ---- PLEASE ---- ask everyone politely to leave their cell phones in another room on silent! Good luck and have a good time!

Dinner Party sounds Great! Invite friends to a theme-inspired party...Beach Party? Private-Eye Party? Tell everyone to bring something for pot-luck. All you have to do is buy balloons, make a great punch and chow down on the food that the friends brought. Of course you have to make something as well! This way all his/your pals have contributed to the party and doesn't cost much. Rent videos that side with your "theme" or play board games with the same theme. Have Fun and Good Luck!

I say you invite all his close friends to dinner and invite all the people you want to a club right afterwards, since you will all be going to the club at diff. times you won't pay for the guests and you can send emails as invites
