The idea behind this theory is that as alcohol has a high sugar content, the withdrawal symptoms are caused by a crash in blood sugar. AA doesn't work for a lot of people. It can be a bit preachy, all this business about turning yourself over to a higher power doesn't wash with a lot of people. You have done brilliantly so far! The physical withdrawal is behind you now.Keep yourself busy, anything to take your mind off drinking!

Actually NO They are 2 different diseases. However, have you ever been pulled over by a police officer? Usually (here in TX anyway) The Officers FIRST WORDS should be "Are you having a medical emergency" The reason for this here in Texas is because an officer was sued for not believing a diabetic was having an episode and the officer said she smelled and acted like she was drunk (by the way, this can be a sign of extremely High sugar level or low sugar levels, and when this happens to a diabetic they can become very lethargic, slurred speech and even a sweet odor (alcohol like) can be detected.) Anyway , to make a long story short, the girl came very close to dying due Police Officers lack of knowledge on diabetes. I believe here the officers are all going through diabetes and other disease trainings along with CPR & First Aid. Stay strong and be sure to go have your sugar checked, you may very well be a diabetic if you are experiencing hypoglycemia episodes! GOOD LUCK and you will be in my prayeres. JUST BE STRONG, YOU KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!! Bambi

YOU HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT ! I did, I did everything a REAL drunk did when I drank, I didn't go to "AA", I just got embarrassed enough, and sick enough to want to quit, aren't you tired of waking up sick all of the time ? I wake up, and get out to excercise now. People say that I look much healthier, people come around now, they say it's like an alien came down and took over my body, don't constantly sh-t all over yourself man ! You'll get that sharp sparkle back in your eyes too, and all of a sudden, BAM ! you will be making good descisions (ya can't make good descisions when you drink) and your life will get much easier, and a funny thing happens too, all of your problems melt away because, they are immediately rectified ! People will notice that you've changed, they will trust you again, you will feel confidence return because, of this, only good things come out of quitting alcohol, nobody ever stopped drinking and got worse. I am convinced that it is something genetic (Alcoholism), some people can drink, some can't, It's NOT OUR FAULT, if we can't drink alcohol socially, it's just the way it is, it's just our design flaw.

Alcoholism is too strong for people to overcome by themselves - it's a disease of PRIDE.... "I don't need anybody (just this drink). "
I was brought up by alcoholics, but, of course, I didn't know that...I knew they drank & were always making trouble for me... before I could accomplish anything, I had to find out about alcoholism - by then I had already made many mistakes that made my life difficult.
BUT, through Alanon, 12-Step for families of alcoholics, I started to learn to recover from the effects of the alcohol dependence of my family.....
It's a life-long process & I work on it every day...
In Alanon I learned HOW to learn from my mistakes...it's a complex set of skills.

I never heard that but alcohol is mostly sugar in your system, so I guess it is logical.
Congratulations on your first week!! God bless everyone trying to quit.

No, and that's not an accepted treatment method by the AMA. If it works for you, well good. However, you are probably being scammed.
