In Paterson NJ cop was recently shot. Despite over 100 officers working on case - no break yet. Do police departments have covert CIA like departments which, like the CIA, "bend" the law in the interest of National of City security? If so, they can outfit guns with GPS or even cameras, release them to the public (sorta like a confidential informant), and then trace the gun and/or its video when used in a crime... Seems it is cheaper than employing 100 officers to solve a crime.

I realize the Fourth Amendment is an impediment... but one can creatively argue that a "search" of the owner of an illegal firearm is lawful.. And it may be worth fighting in order to prevent crime no...

Also, I am not referring to "legally" releasing them to the public.. They should be released to known "underground" illegit gun dealers. (with the aid of a confidential informant).

So, we're going to "solve" the "gun problem" by releasing more guns onto the street directly into the hands of known crimminals so MORE people can die in order to nab the killer who may not have killed at that moment had he not had a gun?

And what about the ones that figure out the tracker and disable it?

Excuse me, but are you Nucking Futs??

Well, in the first place, the technology that you're referring to doesn't exist. There is no GPS device that I am aware of that is small enough to conceal in a handgun; besides, where would you hide it? Handguns are solid metal objects except for the barrel, and the reason you can't put anything in there should be obvious.

Second, developing the technology is MUCH more expensive than the combined salaries of the officers working the case...and I doubt VERY seriously if the Paterson PD has "100 officers" working the case.

As for "video" attached to a handgun....you're kidding, right? It's a joke, right?

No, police departmentd do not have "covert" groups that "bend the law" as you claim the CIA does. I think you've been reading way too many spy novels, skippy.

Aside from all this, the violations of the US Constitution are enough to kill the whole idea, even if the technology were available...which it isn't.

no, what about "LEAVE OUR GUNS ALONE." dont you understand, when You enact these laws they only work on law abiding citizens and they are not the problem. It is already illegal for the criminals to have guns.

What you are suggesting "in the name of national security" is the same thing the U.S. government is already doing, usurping the Constitution and doing what they please, by taking more and more rights away from U.S. citizens.
