I wanted to know if Cats have nine lives, and if they do, why ?

they acually had 8 3/4 lives but it was rounded up to 9 in 1732 by the Spanish /we have since copied them so cats everywhere have 9 lives

I have had cats all my life and seen them getting ran over by cars and getting up. i think the reason why they say cats have nine lives is because they are so lucky not to die when they clearly should have. one i seen a cat get hit by two cars and jump a 10 foot wall.

It seems like they are sometimes lucky creatures, but I don't think they really have nine lives. Sorry. I have a kitty cat too and I wish they really did have nine lives.

It's just a saying. Once a cat passes away, it does not return to have another life. Cats can survive things that you would think would kill them so the saying really means that they are lucky they survived an incident.

They don't actually have nine lives, but their ability to land on their feet (literally), can make it seem like they do.

Cats can get into some pretty crazy situations, and can usually get out of them, too, so it DOES seem like they have 'extra lives. They are just very agile, actually, and fast.

they have 9 lives because they have the ability to jump from high hieghts or get injured and still live will a bloody nose,cracked tooth,and a few broken ribs but they will live to recover
