First, you need to make sure that your info is encrypted, and also look for the trademark before logging in. Ebay uses paypal, and paypal has built in security. Plus, with windowsxp, when you put in your card number, you must put in a secret code to use it. That's in autofill. You can also clear your passwords from the computer in delete browser history, just to make sure.

There will always be a concern for security on the Web, and even off the Web. Identity theft is a growing problem particularly in the United States that one of the most common ways to steal information is not through websites but through dumpster diving (yes, people rummaging through trash cans to steal credit card and personal information).

My suggestion is to:

- go to well known websites such as Amazon.com
- find sites with Hacker Safe seal http://www.scanalert.com/ as you know these sites have their systems checked periodically for hacker loopholes

More than stealing your card number, you need to be concerned more with the customs duty that the Philippine customs will slap on you -- if you are thinking of buying computers and other electronic devices, expect to pay an arm and a leg for custom duties

Most of the on line pet products like frontline and not made in the US. Be careful what you buy. The only safe product that is guaranteed is from your vet clinic. Depending on the area a 250ml bottle should run about $37.

Millions of dollars was spent last year by people for online shopping for Christmas. I do all my shopping on line...except for food.

Make sure the site that you are on starts with hpps://...it's the "s" that means secure site. You are no more in danger than handing a person your credit card across the counter in a store.

There is so much that can be bought online, enjoy it, it can be fun.

Read their privacy and security statement also look for a valid security symbol. Or only purchase from sites that do the most business on the net (ebay, paypal, amazon, and a few others)
