Does anxiety meds kick in overnight? I have been on them for about a month and a half but my dosage was just increased 2 days ago....I am still having thoughts that I am falling out of love with my boyfriend but I dont feel as anxious about it....Will my feelings for him re-appear overnight or will they be brought upon slowly....I just want to love him again!!!

No, anxiety meds don't start to work overnight, usually they start having an affect after about 2 weeks. I think i would re-evaluate my relationship with my boyfriend, if i had to have anti depressants to love him......

I am currently taking 20mg of Prozac every day for depression. I started it in the beginning of this past December and I feel no difference. If anything, I feel worse. I have been having more cynical thoughts than normal and have been acting on impulse - which I can tell you is a very bad thing. Even so, people around seem to think I'm getting better. I have no idea why though. I have not changed at all. So, while everyone thinks I'm getting better, I'm the same old depressed me. I had a friend who took two antidepressants before - Prozac and another which I cannot recall the name of. When she was on Prozac, she attempted suicide once (only one time that I know of...I have my suspicions though). When she was on the other not too long ago, she had over twenty of the side effects and had to stop taking those as well. I personally think that antidepressants don't work well. According to statistics, one third of the time the prescriptions will provide temporary relief. Another third of the time, they provide a very short duration of temporary relief and the other third of the time, the pills don't do jack and sometimes make the cases of depression worse. If your medication is starting to work on you (you said you're not as bad as before) then you should stay on it. Antidepressants take at least six weeks to fully kick in, so that could be why you still feel the same. If you do not feel comfortable on the medication, you should stop taking it. That is all that I can tell you. Best of luck to you and I sincerely hope you overcome your depression and anxiety problems.

It takes time for medications to work and you may have to adjust them until you reach the right level. But your problem with your emotions about your boyfriend is also going to take a long while to get over. If you feel your falling out of love with him, maybe that is the best thing. We often have crushes and think we are in love with someone early in a relationship, but as we get to know that person better we realize that it might not have been real love. Love is not something that can be forced - so why should you force it?
