REAL SHEPHERDS out of Europe are VERY expensive. REAL breeders have put alot of time and effort into them and have spent countless hours breeding and raising and training them. They want to get some money back and I cannot blame them. Working quality dogs as puppies cost around $2000 and as adults, depending on the ammount of training and any titles, can cost up to ridiculous money. Show dogs are even more expensive with specimens running in the $20.000 ranges. Training, if done right and by a QUALIFIED person is also expensive, depending on what you are training for.

The important question is "is a shepherd the right dog for you". i have a year old male that i am boarding till i can get him a home. the owners paid $2000 from Von Wilhendorf, a top german line breeder, well...not that im impressed with his dogs. they could not handle him, he is typical shepherd, free to a good home. the owners relative who lives in CA will pay for training...its kinda a long story but hes a good dog with some leadership

If you rescue it will cost 50-250. If you buy a purebred it can cost you upwards of 700.
To train your dog it will take lots of time and (including treats) upwards of 500.
