Here's a link to a site where you can find a dentist near you in Kent that provides services on the NHS (i.e. much cheaper than private).

If your Mum is on pension credit she shouldn't have to paqy anything at at all.

Good luck!

Is your mum registered with a dentist? If she is registered with an NHS dentist she will only have to pay a set amount. She can then claim the money back. The dentist will be able to give her the forms to do this. It's a pain cos you have to pay first but you can get the money if your income is low enough. Students can do it so I should think those on a pension should be eligible. If your mother is registered with a private dentist she needs to talk to them about claiming the costs back. It is often possible to do this via social services if your income is very low. If she is not registered with a dentist at all she needs to call NHS Direct and they will be able to refer her to the nearest dentist that will take her on and may give advice regarding costs. I'm sorry this isn't more positive but the dental system is a mess. I've just managed to get an NHS dentist for the first time in 20 years!! I hope she gets some help. She could also contact Age Concern and see if they can help even though she's not very old - she's still beyond retirement age.

I don't know the exact answer but I know the government have a minimum amount of teeth stated that a person needs to have to eat/manage and if your Mum has less than that she may well be entitled for that reason alone. It's worth a try....that is of course assuming that she can find a NHS Dentist in Kent.

First your mum needs to find a NHS dentist. Ring NHS Direct , tel 08454647. If your mum receives Pension Credit guarantee credit or Income Support she will get free treatment. She could fill out a HC1 Claim for help with health cost form. New dentures on the NHS cost £189. Good luck finding a NHS dentist.

hi, an upper and lower set of dentures will set your mum back £189.00. That is the max anyone has to pay for a course of nhs dental treatment. it's alot cheaper that you flying out to 'help her out'. Send her the money and get her pearly whites sorted !!!!

if you're actually not in finished time training proper this second then you actual ought to pay the classic nhs dental expenses and ought to ought to proceed to finish that until eventually you commence college, keep in mind that once you change 19 years of age you pay regardless of if you're in finished time training. Your moms operating tax credit received't cover you both as you 18!

If she is with an NHS Dentist she may be entitled to help with the costs or indeed free treatment as she is an OAP. get her to ring her dentist and ask what help she is entitled to or contact the Citizens Advice Bureau for advice.
