I have moved back into an area where I lived years ago. Lost contact with many old friends. Is there a database where I can search for free if someone has passed away?

Hey Dogastino...,

You can check LDS Family Search, SSA, People Finder, or Roots.com, also many Obit sites. Depends on where you are located (or where the person deceased).

If I knew what country you were in I could be more specific, but in the U.S. The Social Security Administration has a list on the internet of all deceased persons that had SS numbers issued to them. If you have their complete name and date of birth and they have died in the last 50 years they will be on the list.
