Hands down the winner right here... Smoking. Back then, I would go to my Mom's office, and there were ashtrays on desks, smokers everywhere... Now, even if you go outside, the non-smokers cry if you are even close to the door...
After that, I would go with actually being able to go outside and play without supervision. I used to ride my bike with my friends for hours (no helmet) and we would be gone for hours... No cell phones, no one knew where we were, etc. If we got lost, though we could just ask an adult how to get back (as long as they didn't "look" creepy lol) and it was no problem as long as we were back in time for dinner.
Brings up another one. Parents could discipline OTHER PARENTS KIDS...(to a certain extent) so we were on good behavior when ANY adult was around, not just our parents.

It was ok to let kids wander the malls by themselves. They could go to play areas or bathrooms in departments stores with no supervision. The only strangers that were bad guys were the weirdos in trench coats that asked if you wanted candy.
