Paris, start with things that you both have in common. Since you both go to the same school, talk about funny things that happen at school, classes you have together, cool/mean teachers, etc. Then slowly open it up to other subjects - interests, hobbies, etc.

if this person lives anywhere near you, i think its best you try to skip the phone convo for right now. the same things you'd talk about on the phone would be the same you say over the cpu. i mean, once you get over your shyness and get to talking on the phone you'll be right back to ask "how do you approach someone you like in person when you've only talked on the phone?" you should go ahead and try to break your fears in person. a simple how are you or how was you day could open up the conversation. i noticed that when you cant think of nething else to say, ask questions. the convo will be easier to continue off of his responses.

Think about your phone conversation before you have it. Maybe you've seen something on television you think you can both relate to, something happened at school, something happened t home? Try to have a few conversation pieces already in your head before you speak and eventually it will just flow. You can also speak and then say something like "o.k. your turn, I feel like I'm hurting you ears, so tell me something about yourself that no one else know." Show him you take an interest in him on a different level then everyone else he speaks to on the phone. Everyone has something to say, they just need to feel safe and they will.
Good Luck!

Find out what he is interested in. He is more willing to talk to you about things he is comfortable with or knows about. If you can find a common interest, you're in. What do you type about? Talk about the same kind of topics.
Good luck! I hope things work out for you and him.

Start out by being super friendly. Say, "Hi... How are you?" or "Hey did you hear about..." That should start a conversation.

Ask him how his day is going or was. What he's doing, basically ask him a few questions, he'll ask a few questions then you guys will have a conversation.
