Just for Fun and to get to know you all out there.

I'm a former jiu-jitsu coach and ex bouncer and have had my fair share over the years.

If i was looking for someone to protect me they'd firstly have to blend in with the crowd...No macho sas,6ft 6" 20st bodybuilders you know the type.

I'd be an open age and equal gender employer
I live in Glasgow so you could'nt carry a gun and with knife culture rampant in Britain You'd also need to be confident should weapons be used against us.
what martial arts style would you favour and how would you impress me enough to employ you.

Cv's please...lol

thats what the questions are here for arn't they,to answer.and so far at least yours make some type of sense unlike a lot.reading some of them i wouldn't think you would need someone to protect you.o.k i do know that's not really what the question is about.been there done that but i'll leave the bodyguard stuff up to the younger ppl,it's hard when your 400 years old.hahahahalol.
personally i wouldn't go by what ma style,i'd go by what types of different training they had and how much real life experience they had and how far they would be prepared to go?and how they would handle different situations and there foresight on different situations.and as far as confidence goes you can pick the real confidence from the bravado within 2 minutes of meeting anybody,
i'm not going to go into an explanation about that i'm sure you know what i mean.
as for assbopper or whatever he calls himself iv'e been insulted by ppl with intelligence so he hasn't got a chance.

I think the best feat is to indeed have a background in martial arts with a little street savy to boot. The techniques that martial arts teach you are effective against most unknowing rough heads willing to start a fight. practised Street fighters try to fight dirty however what are you going to do against some one who won't let you get to the points a dirty fighter uses. Knowing how to use your body allows you to strike with much more power than an untrained person. Believe me that no matter how big and strong if you don't know how to initiate a proper strike, you'll still hit like a girl. A wide experience in martial arts ensures you to recognise other martial artists by their style features and react accordingly. Street savy is handy to know how to use the environment and turn any object into a weapon when need be. I'll give you a tip on a few on the most effective street weapons A a boosted lighter. Any one threatening you will not be that threatening after 3-4 inches of flame in their face. B one that I have on me all of the time. A simple sugar cube cuts like a rasor seems very innocent and easy to conceal and sure to leave marks.
I think for real street use combining technical and practical martial arts makes the best combination. Striking, grappling, joint locks use all weapons to your advantage. defending against weapons is just as easy and hard as fighting bare handed opponents if you take the added range into account and learn not to focus on the weapon. To an inexperienced assailent a weapon is likely to be more dangerous to himself than to others.

I used to wrestle in school and in college. I have in the last year gotten into judo and find it very similar to wrestling. Along with the judo comes various forms of meditation, which I also enjoy very much. For me, judo is a great martial art and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning a martial art.

Nope you would never hire me, I'm deaf.

Thunderchick, sorry to brust your bubble, but... If you're deaf, no one will hire you as a body guard. No matter how good you are at martial arts. It's a different world when it come to being able to fight and being a good bodyguard.

you have not mentioned being rich, a celebrity or a witness against a drug cartel or the mob. Therefore I would start by asking you why you think you need protecting and from whom?

You don't want a traditional Martial Artist. Fixed moves and routines are great for getting belts, but in a close combat situation involving dirty street fighting, you need a free flowing, efficient and ruthless style of defense.

I wouldn't try to impress you to employ me. If you're asking someone to protect you, shouldn't you impress them and commit to letting them take deciding control so you're kept safe?
