What software do I need in order to watch an MKV file?

I downloaded something from the site 'anime-eden', but I can't watch it with realplayer or windows media player. I've never heard of the MKV filetype before....

Anyone know how I can watch this? Do I need to download another program? Help would be much appreciated- it will suck to have waited over an hour for something to download, only to find I can't even watch it :P

You need to download a codec. This website has the MKV Codec.
