Okay, before I answer the question, there are those that don't know what Studio 54 was.
Studio 54 (254 W. 54th Street) was THE club to get into during the disco era. The owners were Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager. The club opened in 1977 and was THE place to be for celebrities as well as the "beautiful" people that were dying to get in there. Rubell personally picked people on the line to enter the club. People would wait ALL NIGHT and never get a chance to enter. But once in there, drugs were rampant (especially cocaine) as well as sex. Famous celebrities that would frequent the club were Bianca Jagger, Halston, Truman Capote, Liza Minelli, Michael JAckson, Brooke Shields, just to name a few.
Rubell and Schrager were busted for tax evasion and the club was shut in 1980, which also pretty much marked the end of the disco era. The club did reopen in 1981 but wasn't the same...it shut its doors again in 1986. There were many incarnations of clubs in that location (Red Zone for one), and the doors of Studio 54 reopened briefly in 1996 after a dance station that had just launched (WKTU) had a contest which allowed people to get into the club.....past disco artists such as Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and Sister Sledge were there.
Being that I was 12 during the original run, there was no way I could go into Studio 54. If there was such a club now, I'd sure as hell would try!

Studio 54 was a little before my time but there is a great movie made about the club.
This is also where the disco song "Freak Out" was made from. The singers of this song were turned down from entering and they were mad and went home and wrote it.
