Most people say kidney stones hurt in the back, but my very large kidney stone hurt my in my lower stomach and made feel as though I had to vomit. I was a terrible pain and I couldn't get in a position that was comfortable. Finally I went to the emergency room b/c I thought it was my appendix but it was a huge kidney stone. I never had any pain in my back.

Probably not. Kidney stones usually hurt in the lower back on one side or the other (not always, though).

No. Kidney stones usually hurt in your flank which is in your back. Could be a bladder infection or cramps. Does it hurt when you pee? That would be a clue that it would be a bladder infection.
