I was put on Sertraline when I was first diagnosed with depression. I was lucky enough not to suffer any side effect, other than the dizzy/sickness in the first couple of days whilst my body got used to it.

I have been on various other meds since then and with regard to side effects I would say sertraline was the one with the least. But at the end of the day it is what works best for you. I have just had Zispin added to my concoction and am worried about side effects of that because I have heard of people putting loads of weight on. But I will give it a go because I have never had that side effect with any of the others.

If you are encountering side effects that you cannot deal with you need to speak to your GP/Psychiatrist and see what else they can offer. There are loads of different anti-depressants out there, it just takes time to find the right one for the individual.

Good luck with it. Take care.

I had been on sertraline for a few months and hadn't any major side-effects. At the beginning I was sleeping a lot, more than normal. Also I was very tired and sorta lifeless. However, I had to switch to efexor, as Sertraline does not cure anxiety. Also I was still a bit down when on that drug so I had to switch to a different one. I used to take Bioxetine, in other words Prozac, but it gave me terrible side effects, I couldn't eat and was vomiting lotsa. I lost 10 kgs within a very short period of time, 2 weeks or so. I stayed on Bioxetine only for a short time.
Zoloft is a very good medication, if it works well for you , then keep taking it. If not, I recommend Efexor. Always consult such changes with your doc though.

I've been on Setraline for 6 months and personally have had no side effects. I did feel quite jittery for the first week, but I have been prescribed them for anxiety so maybe it was nothing to do with the medication.

Having said all that, everybody reacts differently to different types of anti depressant drugs, you have to find the right one for you. Some people are fine on Prozac, but I lost a lot of weight on it. It took me two years to find one that worked for me. It's a case of trial and error.

Have been on it for a year. Can't say other than feeling very tired, have had many side effects. There are so many anti-depressants available so if it doesn't agree with you, I'm sure your GP would change the medication for you.
Good luck!

I have been taking this for postnatal depression. I felt very sick for the first day, then I felt jolly fine! They really work for me. However, if i forget to take them for more than 24 hours, i get pin prick feeling all over my face! Happens each time i forget! Then I have to make sure I take them again at night so the sick feeling occurs when I am asleep.

never have taken them so can't help from personal persective, try doing web search and checking out reviews for those medicines. Sideeffects and etc should be listed.
