“The military is at the breaking point with more than 50 percent of our combat troops already deployed in Iraq,” Rangel said. “The question is: where will the additional troops—including those that may follow if the war is escalated further—come from?” He noted that many of the 21,000 additional troops that Bush is ordering to Iraq “are already on the ground in Iraq and will have their deployments extended. Almost 250,000 of the troops currently deployed in Iraq have served more than one tour, and some have been deployed as many as six times.”

They aren't controversial if they are true. I just hope that this mess is over with soon - the Iraqis deserve a peaceful nation. I know the Shias are killing the Sunnis and vice versa, but they've got to end this, or they may wind up destroying themselves.

First: it is Representative Rangel. Second: You don't show where your alleged quote came from. Third: Your facts are wrong. There are not 250,000 US troops in Iraq.
Other statements attributed to Rep Rangel are not correct. It makes me suspect the validity of your quote.
You have already made other incorrect statements on this site. That is more reason to disbelieve anything you state here.

Well, if idiots like Rangel hadn't decided to cut the military to the boine after the first gul war, we wouldn't have aproblem today. Just like in the 80's when the cold war ended, the "peace dividend" retards somhoe thought we didn't need a military anymore.

I don't find that controversial at all. In fact I think it's a very valid point.
