Only in Britain and other countries that drive on the left is the turn like writing an n. anywhere else, it is like writing a u. That ignores the fact that, to be complete, the u has to be finished off with a tail, which would be rather dangerous most of the time. Maybe we should call it a Union of Sets turn.

Well, if you go to the left, you are making a U turn. When you finish the turn it is a U. Also, we read from left to right, so when you start the U, you go from left to right and are in fact making a U.

If you were making a U turn to the right, it would probably be more of an N turn, but we dont do that.

Because from the point where you start the u-turn to the point where you finish it, a u is created, not an n, to accomplish this you would have to start making the turn from the other side of the road.

Why do you park on a drive way and drive on a park way. When is it legal to pass oncoming traffic with them on your right side? When turning left!! English language is backwards and driving is sometimes silly.

Oh, I get it, but it's only a lowercase 'n' turn. A 'U' turn works in uppercase and lowercase.
