Everything is a bit odd. The hot and cold pipes are touching?? The pipes don't join up to anything and I can't work out what they are suppoed to join to. Oh dear

easy donnot panic screw the copper tails ie the pipes that came with the taps screw them into the base of the tap do not over tighten as the rubber gasket will get damaged once you have fitted the tap through the hole in the sink gently bend the pipes and connect them to the original pipes under the sink -

If you mean the 10mm tails are touching, that's so they will pass through the hole in the sinktop. There are only two connections to make to the existing hot and cold supplies, can't be that difficult to work out!

I assume these are 10mm copper tails that connect to the hot and cold pipes. You will require adaptors to fit . These tails are easily bent to allow lining up to the existing.

I would get the professionals in to fix it up. (Whatever you do, don't force it, faucet; sorry, but I couldn't resist, as hard as I tried to)

your being vauge,when you say join up do you mean to hook to the water supply or to attach the faucet to?
