my crock pot is a 5 qt. and most of the recipes i'm reading about call for a 3.5-4 qt pot. ok, maybe not a huge deal but does that change the amounts of ingredients i use, or cooking time? what should i adjust, if anything?

Don't adjust anything.... the size of your crock pot just means you can cook bigger amounts of food, but you don't have to... you can still cook a smaller quantity and follow the recipe that you have. After you use it a few times, you will start to throw food together without a recipe, then you can cook for larger parties. Enjoy your crock pot, I love mine!

It just means you won't have trouble fitting all the ingredients in the pot. Shouldn't change the length of time, most Crock pot recipes the longer they cook the better anyway.

I honestly do not think the size varies so much that you cannot wing it. I have an ancient crock pot that was my mothers. To be perfectly honest...I do not even know what size it is. I have made hundreds of recipes for crock pots in that thing. I have never took the size of the pot into consideration. My crock pot meals always fit in the pot and cooked up perfectly int he time it says.

It won't change a thing. Continue following the directions as stated.

no, it doesn't change the amounts or cooking time. Your crockpot just won't be full when you follow the recipe.

It doesn't change anything and you don't need to adjust your recipe. Your crockpot won't be full, but that's no big deal.
