I mistakenly told my girlfriend I would fix her brakes yesterday not knowing there was a terrible snowstorm coming. Since I have no garage and she's shown quite in interest in learing about her vehicle should I offer to tell her how to fix her own brakes while I'm in the house talking to her over the cell phone?
What believable excuse should I use until spring comes?
There's no way I'm going to pay for her vehicle to be fixed properly by a professional so don't even suggest that.

You can make the offer, but I doubt she'll take you up on it.
the interest she's taken is likely limited to learning how to check the oil and other things that do not require her to lie under the car and get her hands dirty. I'm only guessing, of course, but she's a beginner. You should need no excuse aside from the snow. If she needs her brakes fixed before the thaw, she should pay for it herself. Maybe you can offer to drive her car to a mechanic while she follows in your car. She should accept the offer of help without being angry with you. If she EXPECTS or DEMANDS that you fix her car in the snow or pay, you should probably get a new gf that has realistic expectations of you.

If you told her that you would fix her breaks she is expecting you to do what you told her and asking her if she wants to do it herself now and you just explain how to is going to set fire to the coal.

Just explain to her that you didnt realize the weather was going to be like this and as soon as it is better weather you can do it unless there is someones garage that she knows of that would let you fix the car there.

Being Honest is your best bet, she maybe a little upset about not getting the brakes done but atleast you will be telling her the truth. If she wants to learn maybe she can come and help you or you can explain as you go along. good luck.

Ha ha ha that's funny assuming you are joking. If not your an idoit. I am not even going into the fact that you want her to sit in the snow storm to fix her brakes. If you are willing to risk the life of you g/friend by not knowing that her car's brakes are in good order, you have some serious problems and you should have yourself checked out. Let's just hope the person who can help you with your problem isnt also scared of the snow storm!!!

Just tell her the truth. If she loves you she will understand. Maybe her father has a garage you can use to work in? Get real though, she is not going to fix her own brakes, no matter how you explain it to her!!

well i think you should fix them . sure if there is a deep freeze wait but the way this winter is going that wont be a problem
and since you know how to then you know that some brake jobs will not take long at all . so there you go.

Just tell her that you will do it when the weather is better and that changing the brakes in cold weather can be very dangerous.

Why can't you go out with her. If learning to fix her car is so important to her, shouldn't it be to you?
