The spiritual journey leads us to the nearness of the One True God.
It means that we are working for the development of the inherent names and attributes of God in our souls. The more they are developed (through prayers, meditation, purification, charity, sacrifice...), the more we become more godly. Finally, likeness is nearness.

I want it to lead me to wherever I'm going. I would like it to lead to a peaceful life and, when it ends, heaven. But we all don't get what we want. God, or in some people's cases, a higher power knows what's best for us. Some prayers come true, others don't. In reflection, we learn to understand why what happened did, keep repeating our mistakes until we learn from them, and then move on to the next "lesson" shall we say. I'll pray you are successful in whatever it is you are looking for and send positive thoughts your way.

There is no "spiritual journey". The word "spiritual" is rather vague and meaningless. It's definitions range from just feeling awe about something to believing in invisible people guiding you around.

Each person makes his own "path" through life. That path always ends in death. That's where it always leads you. Therefore, the end of the "journey" is really unimportant.

It is the journey, itself that is the important part. If you waste your life planning for when you're death, you miss out on life. You have to figure out your own purpose and meaning to your life. Everything that happens to you, good and bad, adds to the experience of life. It is up to you to figure out what to do with it.
