Only in a very extreme case that we can smell it, otherwise it is just impossible in normal breathing condition.
Any smell must required an agent or carrier to transport the smell chemical to your nose's sensory cells inside, underlying in the nose inner surface, And this agent or carrier is the air we breath in and out, without air ,we cannot smell anything.
When we breath in, we can smell any odour that the air bring in but because the air we breath is mainly oxygen and CO2 that we breath out, both of these 2 gases are odourless by nature, we cannot smell anything.
The food digested in the stomach will produce a lot of smelly gases, but once the moment we breath out gas(CO2) from the lungs, there is one small piece of muscular flap which situated just above our throat behind our mouth will instantly close the digestric track opening, so that we cannot smell the gas inside the stomach. When we swallow any food, this flap will close air track so that food will not accidentally goes into the lungs.
In some extreme cases, we sometimes experience some food particles goes to the wrong way and we have to sneeze it out through the nose. only then we can smell it, only by this way that we can smell the acidic nature of our digested food inside the stomach. But nobody in the world can force this small piece of muscle to open it out and let the air go inside the stomach and let it pass through the nose for u to smell it.

erm i think its because of our body's adaptation. If the inside of your nose had a smell and well you have been smellign the inside of your nose for quite some time you become used to it. It is your body's adaptation. Its just like how you step under a hot shower and you feel pain on your skin initially but the pain gradually goes away because your body adapts to the water. hope this helps. :)

The smell of the inside of your nose is your personal norm, thats why you dont notice it. I bet if you smelled the inside of someone elses nose it would smell different.

Try wiping Vicks on the inside of your nostrils and get back with me. Of course you will be able to smell it. This is a bit like a question of why it is difficult to smell your own breath. If it is produced by you, then the scent is detected ALL of the time. Therefore the brain after a while starts to ignore constantly the same stimuli. Therefore if you are producing a smell yourself...garlic breath or plain ole halitosis you most likely will not be able to detect it yourself. I hope this helps.
