To own Microsoft Word legally yes you do need to buy it, however you do not need to buy the whole Office package you can get Word on its own.

It also comes as part of Microsoft Works which is much cheaper.

If you are a student or have someone in your home that studies (any age from 2 to 102) you can get a student license which is a reduced cost.

Please don't confuse Microsoft Office with Open Office. Open Office (previously Star Office) is not the same thing and can be a wee bit confusing to novice users

to obtain a legal copy of Microsoft word you need to purchase it, it comes with many versions of Microsoft Office, and with some versions of Microsoft Works.

you are supposed to unless it came with your PC. It is part of microsoft office or microsoft works.

Windows comes with wordpad which should be fine for simple use, if you want something for free get openoffice from http://www.openoffice.org

at the moment microsoft are offering 60 day trials but i think i'll have to buy it after that period of time runs out
you're better off with open office
Have you tried Abiword?

there is a free word viewer on the microsoft website, there are also lots of opensource document creaters and many are just as good as word

No go to Compusa and steal it, as it is obvious you are asking someone to give you a link to where you can steal it. Just go do it yourself, what is the differance?

Oh, yeah you might go to jail, humm poor baby.

You can find hacked coies of programs but they do contain virises, hope you get one if you steal a copy. Whores get viruses why not theives?
