Plastic bags are regrettably the bags widely used in the market today and the reason is purely economical, THEY ARE CHEAP!!!Plastic bags are indeed stronger than paper bags, but the damage they do to the environment is immense; for plastic to disintegrate takes over 100 years (only the sun disintegrates plastic in the period mentioned). Some super markets, offer you the choice of whether you want your merchandise bagged in a plastic or paper bag, when I have the opportunity of such a choice, I always pick the paper bag.
