I bought a car from a dealer yesterday and he is going to have it MOT'd for me. I bought insurance online but the cover note will take 4-5 days to arrive in the post. What shall I do about road tax? I can't apply for it without an insurance cover note.

I don't have anywhere to park the car except for the street in front of my house. I'm scared I may get clamped. Any advice?

Maybe the dealer can keep the car for you until the cover note comes through. Also if he is MOTing it for you that may take a few days.Whenever I have bought insurance on line, the cover note has never taken longer than 48hrs! Do you not have a friend, relative or even neighbour who has space on their drive? You are right not to risk the road, you just never know your luck. This time next week, all this will be a distant problem and you will be driving around in you new car! Good luck

See if the dealer will lend you a trade plate until the cover note arrives. Or just don't take delivery until all the paperwork is sorted out and the car is properly tested and taxed.

If you can't get what you need immediately from an on line insurance company, I'd suggest you cancel that and see an agent where you can. Yes, you may get clamped as it is.
