It's not a disease, it's just navel lint. Everyone gets it.

It sounds to me like you have a case of belly-button lint. Try putting a little alcohol on a Q-tip and cleaning the inside of your navel. If there's a bad odor or a discharge, you may have a fungal infection. If so, please see a doctor right away. If not, just try to keep your belly-button clean more often when you bathe. Best of luck to you!

Just lint, no worries. You need to wash your navel when you bathe, just like anyother part of your body.

If you have an extreme "inny", use a Q-tip that has been dampened, and wipe your navel out. (Kinda like cleaning your ears.)

It could just be lint and dead skin, if you're not washing the belly-button regularly. There is a chance that there is a fungal infection there, but it is unlikely, and you would have mentioned itching or redness or inflammation.

Assuming it's not lint...

It's probably a fungal infection.

Clean the area well, keep it clean, and then see what becomes of it. If it is a fungal infection, proper higiene would have likely prevented it in the first place.

If the problem continues, see a doctor.

Naval lint. Its build up of old skin cells. Shows that you haven't cleaned! Its also a 'food' for bacteria hence the funky smell. Cotton bud your belly button weekly, this should solve it!
