...and most likely part Siberian Husky, or other 'blue eyed' breed (Blue Merle Collie or Australian Shepherd, Dalmation, etc) . No, eyes being blue alone do not affect hearing ability in dogs. If you are that worried about her hearing, clap your hands loudly behind her when she is not paying attention & see if she startles & looks, or ask your vet to reccomend someone for a BAER hearing test (can go to www.akc.org & look up the closest chapter of the Dalmation club to contact members for more info on this, also).

Solid white blue eyed cats have a higher incidence of deafness, maybe this is what you were thinking?

Your puppy probably has more breeds mixed in her genes than just Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Labrador. Sounds like she may have some Siberian Husky ancestory. Siberian Huskies have the light blue eyes but are seldom deaf.

If the puppy isn't deaf now it won't be later in life.. And unless she is all white with blue eyes I wouldn't worry. Dogs have different colored eyes, just like people!

Blue eyes doesn't always mean deafness. I would have her hearing checked by a vet though. It is unusual for that type of mix to have blue eyes.

Actually my labrador puppy had blue eyes when I first got her. Kind of like most babies have blue eyes when they are born. Her eye color changed to green once she got older.
