Disregard the last answer- some people can be rude when they dont understand pain!
DONT DISCOUNT THE PAIN IF IT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVENT USUALLY HAD... WHAT ARE THE OTHER SYMPTOMS YOU HAVE HAD? TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION AND GO FROM THERE....
HOWEVER, IF this is something that is more chronic-consider this:
If it is bad enough that you need to see a doctor then go to the ER or walk in clinic. There are lines out there-so hospitals have and "ASK A NURSE" .
What I try and do is go thru the list of Treatments that they are going to do.
1. A good idea may be to go and take yourself to a POOL and a HOT TUB and just try and relax FIRST (or even a very hot bath.) Pamper yourself. However- the point is to soak and move a little...because u can also overdo in the pool.
Hotels, Motels, or Health spas -and if u have NEVER had POOL therapy- When u do see a dr, ask.. IT IS THE BEST and
I always called to see my PT first -because they can TREAT the pain with modalities or massage and you can often get into see your Physical Therapist, or step int a pool session easier.
They will relate any inflammations to the DR and treat accordingly. Where I live, it is getting IMPOSSIBLE to ever see or talk to the dr anymore unless u demand it. You tend to get pawned off to the PA's (not saying they do not know- just dont want to be treated that way)
2. Then Take the PRESCRIBED Meds first. IF you need and extra They wont jump all over you, most prescriptions are NOT the Maximum that tehey will ever prescribe -BUT (i always start with the NON aspirin stuff and IF i have to I will take another and I feel comfortable doing that) Over-medication is stupid- the pain is still gonna be there and u will run out of meds faster. JUST DON'T!!! :))
3. Plop yourself into bed with either a heating pad or ice pack - and then alternate between the 2. One thing that is always best to remember is TRY NOT to fall out of your Daily routine - because the progress that you have made will fall behind. (yes, even for 1 day) Just do any exercises that you are supposed to do, but maybe a few less if you cant quite finish.
4. MAKE A NOTE TO CALL THE DR THE NEXT DAY - BUT more then likely - I have noticed that if I do the above- I can do OK till the next appt. IF NOT I GO TO THE ER and they will either just do what u expect them to and give u a shot - and tell u to call the dr when they are open again. PHOOEY I got better things to do with my time!!
----------------------GOOD LUCK--------------------------------------

You can call your doctor's office and their answering service will convey your message. The doctor will get back to you (or if they're in a group, it will be the doctor "on call"). You can discuss your problem and they will advise you whether to go to the hospital or perhaps will call-in a prescription to your pharmacy.
I work in a doctor's office and we are open on most of the minor holidays, like M.L. King Day, President's Day, Columbus Day, etc. -- so they might be open after all!

Obviously Kenya can't think or he would have realized you meant closed. But of course we all know he(?) did realiz this but wanted to be a jerk.
First call your doctor's office for the on call physician. He or she will probably tell you to go to the closest ER.
Second, as that can be expensive depending on your insurance you can consider going to one of the Urgent Care walk in clinics for some immediate relief.
