Don't buy any dog from a petstore.. All petstore dogs come from puppy mills, which is a mass breeding place and most if not all petstore dogs end up with sicknesses, life threatening ones.
Go to your local shelters, pounds and rescues and look.. No one can say a breed is right for someone because each dog and each person is different.. If you find one at the shelter and you have that "made for me" feeling, it is the right dog for you! If you love the dog and the dog loves you it was made to be yours. Its destiny, like meeting the person you want to marry. The gut feeling! That is how I found my three dogs. And remember, just because a dog isn't pure bred doesn't mean it won't make a good pet, because muts are some of the best dogs in the world.
Also, be sure to stay clear of dog foods that have corn or by-products in them, as these are bad for the dog and can shorten their life span. I suggest Lassie Natural Way which you can see at www.lassie.com/naturalway
Oh! and YES! Spaying and Neutering is a GREAT thing!!!!!!! It lessens their chances of getting cancer and it means a healthier life!
I hope this helps

Hi, First I must tell you having any kind of pet is a bigger responsibility than having a wife, girl friend/boy friend, since the animal can not take care of it self you have to.
Dog can be destructive as cats can be but dogs can be house trained easier to not tear stuff up, you must make sure their shots are kept up to date yearly you can get your Vet to give notice to you by mail & phone to advise when they are due.
I think it is good when a person wants a pet but they should know of the responsablities that go with them if you are not ready for that then you do not need a pet.
I wish you luck, Oh Yorkies in most cases have health issues if you want a small dog I recommend one of the following just from my experiances,( pardon spellings)
Chihuahuas, Boston Terriers, Mini-Dachshund, Pekingeses.
I currently have a female Mini-Dachshund and she is my shadow.

Sophylake is right buying from pet stores supports puppy mills! Consider getting an older dog from a shelter, they will be calmer, because they have passed through their childhood and adolescence.
But really, dogs are much more work than cats, they need walks and training and a lot of 1-1 time. If a cat was hard for you to manage, believe me a dog will not be easier!

If you want a small dog then a Yorkie is ideal ..they have amazing personalities and don't shed any hairs.
They are loyal and loving...but do get a puppy rather than an older dog..a puppy you can train to behave as you like.
Avoid the pet stores, try a local rescue center if they don't have what you want they will be able to tell you who has.
It would be better if you wanted a neutered dog to take your puppy to a reputable vets yourself.

first NO PET STORES!!!! these are poorly bred dogs that usually comes with numerous health issues and are very hard to housebreak because they have been removed from there mothers way to early and are forced to soil there cages at the pet store.... alll puppies will probably seem hyper to you. you should go to your local humane society and learn all you can about dogs and dog training - cuz if you think a cat is bad

If you want something small with no hair, corry is the best. I think samoyeds are good for medium hair shedding, and they're fluffy and quite small (50-55cm large)

Dogs take a lot of patience and training. Maybe you should get a guinea pig.
