You can't solve corruption problem, as it's already a part of human civilization.
However, you can eradicate and minimize it. On government official corruption, what we need is an improvement on citizen's political participation, which is including to monitor the responsibility aspect of the executive and legislative officials.
But, when it comes to micro settings, start from yourself, your family, then your community. Advocate them to be more critical toward themselves and the government, in a good and proper way.

It is not so easy to solve the corruption problem in a society, since it is linked with human nature. Yet in some countries or societies there is much less corruption compared to many others. Some say it is linked with poverty and exploitation or deprivation. Yet in many primitive societies like 'aboriginals' there is no such thing like corruption. It has nothing to do with religion either, though all religions are supposed to make humans less selfish, which is the root cause of corruption. The societies that are most corrupt are christian and also muslim.
In India corruption can be reduced if the President, PM, Leader of opposition, Speaker of Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice all together decide to root out corruption. One should not conclude that these gentlemen are corrupt, but surely they are not doing enough to reduce corruption. Our laws are such that they foster corruption. A police officer does not register FIR for which he is paid. There can be several other bodies recognised to do this job. A land registrar manipulates the owner ship records after taking bribe. All these are curable thru modern means. Yet the govt is not doing any thing. There are many laws that need to be changed. Only when people agitate for a corruption free govt, things will start changing.

There are multiple factors that promote corruption. Following measures can reduce corruption:
1. Decentralisation of Power
Power is not distributed enough in India given the population strength and geogrophical spread. Usually in India files are pending in huge numbers and only if you pay money will the officials expedite. Decentralisation would put more people empowered to make decisions. This will speed up decision making and reduce corruption.
2. Improving Transparency
Internet and RTI act has brought more transparency to the system. This can be improved further by mandating all applications status be published electronically every week (like passport application status). More automation (like kiosks) can also make the system more transparent. These measures would make it tough for officials handling these isses to be corrupt.
3. Removing Middlemen
Card touting agents are the mainstay in institutionalising corruption. A visit to a RTO can throw more light about how the system works. Restricting entry to offices, registering visitors, using visitor tokens (like banks), installing cameras etc. can help in removing middlemen from govt. offices.
4. Increasing Salaries
Often officers' salaries are too low when compared to the weight of decisions they make. The offices are also shabby and poor. Increasing salaries and improving govt office conditions can instill a sense of wellbeing and can reduce motivation for corruption. Salaries need to be commensurate with the decision making powers of officers and not simply by rank or experience at a broad level.
5. Non interference in Vigilance
Vigilance officers usually do a good job but they are hindered by officials and politicians. Following the example of CVC Vittal, offences and offenders can be publicised so that it is difficult for people to protect corrupt officials.
6. Last but not the least - Be a better citizen
This is the toughest but the most powerful weapon against corruption. If you as a citizen refuse to pay bribes for getting things done or expediting things corruption can reduce dramatically. Often we don't have the patience or the guts for this and succumb. This is the main reason corruption flourishes. Next time a traffic cop stops you, ask for the violation notice and pay the fine at the police station.

Corruption is an evil for any civilised society. It eats up the society from within and creates total chaos slowly.
The major steps towards eradication of corruption should include a long term planning(it is not possible to eradicate corruption overnight):
The first few basic steps should be the following:
1. Give the major section of people good basic living conditions.People are generally good.If they can meet their basic requirements through proper earning they wont get corrupted.
2. Create a proper system in every sphere of activity to check
corruption.
3. Imbibe sense of integrity, honesty, self respect in major
section of people.
4. Form strict rules against corrupted people.
I hope as a start these basic steps should reduce the corruption practice drastically.

Now a days giving bribes to the higher officers and authorities has became a very common thing even to the public . Then how this corruption can be solved?atleast now there is a lot of chance to stop this very dangerous corruption. The government of INDIA must take this corruption as a very serious one and the punishment to this should be very severe that not even a single officer will think of having bribes from public.

Hi,
this is one of my favorites. You can't. As long as there is civilization, there will be corruption to a certain degree. The trick is to make it as low as possible. How?
1. The first thing you'll need is a competent and not too large government. People working for it need to be able to make sufficient amount of money legally in order to make corruption less appealing.
2. Then, you need to have strong, fast and strict anti-corruption laws that are enforced rigorously. That means everybody - from the president onwards.
3. You'll also need transparent legislation and rules, because corruption stirrs in murky waters, so to speak. It's harder to steal if you have no way to hide it, and if everybody can easilly call you on it.
4. You need to set a moral code of sorts that strongly condemns corruption and puts honesty, work ethics and an ideal of service (to humanity, country, family) in the spotlight. It will probably take decades for this to have full effects, but it'll ensure less problems in the long run.
5. Also, I'm not sure where you live, but in order to get competent people to some parts of my country, you should be ready to tolerate some level of corruption as job benefits. As long as the person steals moderately and discretely, you should be just fine. We're working on it long term, but that's the situation at the moment.
I hope this helps you.
Best wishes,
Damir

People became more materialistic, money minded. Ignoring the real values of life. They forget that they are going to die one day. They will be accountable for everything they earn & spend. This is one of the bad thing passed on to us from British & the west. People should be educated first about this issue. Then punish those culprits with severe loss. Today we read the news "100th time thief caught while stealing, which implies that there is a problem in the law itself. Corruption is also a form of stealing other's property. This also happens when people tend to disassociate religion and the normal life.

Corruption is like cancer. You won't initialy feel pain of cancer and thereafter even treatment is given chances for cure is remote. When a person is involved in corruption he finds finacial feedom and his requirments keep on increasing. So his focal point does not divolge other than his own needs and necceties. As long as he is not checked he never thinks about those people who were involved like him in corruption, caught by concerned autharities. Many corruption cases are detucted and culprits are punished. Public places and vital areas where corruption mostly take place, corrupted officials pohotographs and a brief note about his involment for corruption may be displayed, those who tend to involve in corruption would be caught and punished like him, once you are caught your children, family will have to undergo finacial, mental, and several hardship, you are getting salarey for the work you are doing .therfore one should avoid in involving in corruption and lead his life within his earnings. requirments and comforts will keep on increase if you get easy money and there is no limit for your ambitions. these would come to standstill if you are caught. Never thing that you will never be caught if you are involved in corruptin. If this kind of messages keep on posted in places of officals working and also their families recieve such messages corruption may consideraly controled.
