Well said Bob, Britain doesn't have an open house policy when it comes to immigration.
Also remember that almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants, whether it may be first, second or a few centuries ago.

I agree with you totally. Unfortunately, there aren't many decent UK people that asks about immigration. I looked a few weeks ago and most of the questions revolved around ways of getting into the UK from a different country.

your 100 per cent right in what you are saying.this country has got a open house policy.i lived all over europe.and all i heard from then was.we go to england everything is free.and these people were in germany/holland/france/belguim.but they still wanted to come to england.why that.because we are seen has a easy touch.and we are.and as for all then white midle class toss pots.come and stay in south london on a council estate.they think they own the place.and has i have said i live all over europe.and they called england the land of milk and honey.and i heard this thousands of times.and why do you think all the british people in london have move out.are they racist.or are they just looking to get there family a better life.from a ex life long labour support.

I agree. I think that immigrants coming over here only to claim benefits and get free healthcare is irritating because they've never paid taxes so none of that money is theirs and yet, if we moved over to their country, we'd get nothing, no help, no support from the government and then they have the cheek to call us racist because we don't like these "invasions", well maybe next time they get out of bed, they should make sure they don't fall onto a flight to England then!

probably because immigration is intrinsically linked with race.
There isn't an open door policy and the UK takes far less than its fair share of immigrants.
I really feel sorry for the new members of the EU as they are having restrictions put on them that the other countries did not.
And it goes against the whole ethos of the EU.
Most people who you are calling small minded probably dont see the UK as a members only club and that all members of the EU ought to be afforded the same rights.

Same here in the US.
There is no such thing as a fair share. Any nation has the right to refuse any immigrant or set any policy the people feel is appropriate for immigration into their country. No other country has the right to tell them who to allow to enter.
Make your voice heard in your country.

i agree that if you question immigration then you are labelled a racist, having said the number of racist comments that are seen on here makes genuine debate very difficult what ever you view

Why is it that "decent UK" people find the need to tell those of us in the U.S. how our country should run?We kicked them out a couple hundred years ago because we had had enough of their policies. And it doesn't seem like we have asked to have them govern us again, now does it?They have enough to worry about without getting into American immigration issues. If they want the illegals, send a plane ticket for them,I'm sure they will find the climate suitable.Until that is,of course, their jobs are taken by those same people who broke the law to get the job(and are willing to the job for less pay and bring the standard of living down). Then tell me about racism.

Because decent people do nt question immigration with a distinct "why are they here, why do we pay" and other rot, which denotes the speaker as a racist.
And where you really think you have a point, why is it that you never actually question all of the UK immigrants leaving to Canada, the US, New Zealand or Australia.
The person who asked the question, too damned scared of open debate, the sign of a good home grown racist, mails me direct with a suggestion that I read the papers. Hmmm, firstly, not the rags you read.
As to 'open house', stop reading crap newspapers who fil your head with this drivel, and understand that it is not as easy as they say.
It's all just racists, and you, another little dummy, go along with it. As to small minded, meaning literally that, small minded, closed to other possibilities, even handed, tolerence, understanding and much more.
Now go look at your question again and understand who is 'small minded'.
